Appearance: Caryo has a square yet delicate face: tip-tilted nose, full lips, wide eyes with arched brows. Her jaw is angular; on another maiden it might be too strong, but on her it's stunning.
Clothes: In summer, a sleeved bodice; loincloth with a double-looped belt; boots just above the knee. In winter, a shirt and trousers with a fur-lined vest, worn with boots and a thigh-length coat.

Personality/History: Caryo was fostered to Ouren's Band at age eight, and earned a reputation as a tough little maiden, despite the assumption that a stiff breeze would blow her over. Her foster-brothers, impressed by her skill with spears, took her first on hunts, then on raids. (Her foster-mother was unimpressed by their cavalier assumption that she'd be all right, and bellowed at them regularly.) Soon Caryo was well-known as a potential raider, and loves it enough to make it her path in life.
She met another fosterling, a maiden named Nalreen, and the two became close despite their difference in temperament. Nalreen was calm, good-natured, easily amused and patient; Caryo was quick-tempered, quick to speak, impulsive and proud. Yet it's acknowledged that nothing will separate these two, and no one even tries it.
Caryo enjoys her lightness, but she has no patience with those who think her slender build means she's weak of body or mind. The best way to get Caryo to do anything is to tell her she couldn't do it. She'll take a dare faster than she will a suggestion.
